It's half way through January and it's two
weeks since classes started again. This semester
we're doing four shows, two the first half and two
the latter half, which means crews change sometime
in February, after reading week. Time is going so
fast! It feels like opening night is just around the
corner but we've only just started altering the
costumes. But aside from the stress it is also very
exciting, and my classes are much better this time
around. In costumes we're actually making pants,
learning how to make patterns, and designing
costumes for Shakespeare's the Taming of the Shrew.
In stage craft we are now doing paint and props,
while sound and light are pretty much still the same
but we have a design project for each. Drafting is
now digital, yey! We're using a CAD program
called Vectorworks and I'm liking it so far. We
all got a student version for our own computers
so I can play around with it as much as I like.
The only new class is stage management which is
rather stressful because it requires a lot of stupid
paper work, highlighting, and organization, ew.

On a social note, I am so very sick of everyone
complaining about computer drafting. We've only
had two classes and everyone just magically "knows"
that our teacher is the worst ever. I have learned
more in that class so far than I learned in a whole
semester of sound last year. Also: some people really
need to find an outlet other than bitching at people,
or I might just have to yell at them. I, for example,
use this blog as my outlet because I know only a few
people read it, and they aren't the ones I bitch about.

Did I mention that I'm excited for the costume design
project? Italian renaissance clothing is so pretty, and
the character I picked changes dramatically during
the play so I have many ideas already. Oh, and it's
set at the same time AC 2 is, so I can play the game
and call it research. :D

Yesterday I talked with our department's designer
about what university's she recommends for getting
a BA in theatre design at and she listed UVIC, UofA,
and UAL. The last one is in London, UK, so it's pretty
expensive, but also very awesome. I will apply to all
three, but I'm going to try the hardest for UAL. I
greatly miss Europe and all it's art and architecture,
and I think living in London would be very inspirational.

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
('Cause everyone is doing it)

01;
Drawing everyday, and finishing
digital paintings.

02;
Be more positive!

03;
Try to actually work-out more,
and lose weight.

04;
Spend less money on things I do
not need.
